Creating superheroes

This year the 5th and 6th graders learnt how to describe superheroes. They also learnt a lot of things about the comic book writer Stan Lee, who died in 2018.

Stan Lee was an American comic book writer, editor, and publisher. He was executive vice president and publisher of Marvel Comics.

Lee co-created Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Daredevil, Thor, the X-Men, and many other famous comic book characters.

We used some photos to practise descriptions:

Finally, the students created their own superheroes using an outline . Here you have some pictures:

Keith Haring

This year, the 1st grade students started our Art School Project with the famous American artist Keith Haring. He was drawing at an early age, which he learned from his father. You can see his drawings in the subway and on the streets in New York City.

Here you can watch a video about Keith Haring's artwork:

This is the students' work inspired by Keith Haring. They created their own figures in different poses:

Giuseppe Arcimboldo

Have you heard of Giuseppe Arcimboldo? That is a funny name, right? He is the second artist that 1st grade students studied in our Art School Project.
He was born in Milan, Italy, in 1527. He is very famous for his portraits of human heads made up of vegetables, fruit and flowers.

What do you see? Can you name the diferent things Giuseppe used to make the face?

Here you can see the students' fruit and vegetable portraits, inspired by the work of this artist:
