Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This year we celebrated at school the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl. We learnt some things about his biography and we watched clips of two films based on his books, Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the story of Charlie Bucket, a little boy that is very poor and dreams of eating chocolate. One day, he finds a golden ticket in a chocolate bar and he visits Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, the biggest chocolate factory in the world.



After watching the trailer we learnt some sweets vocabulary and talked about our favourite sweets and desserts:

100th anniversary of Roald Dahl

Britain celebrates the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl in 2016. Born on 13 September 1016, Roald Dahl captured the imagination of children around the world with his tales including James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Twits and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
  • ROALD DAHL'S BIOGRAPHY
Roald Dahl was one of the most popular children’s authors in the world. He was born in Wales in 1916.
He started to write books after a serious flying accident. He wrote his first children’s book, James and the Giant Peach, in 1961.

He wrote many more children’s books, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and the Enormous Crocodile.
Children all over the world read his books, and many have been turned into films and musicals.
This year we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth.
