A traditional Irish song: Molly Malone


WHO IS MOLLY MALONE?

In Dublin, the capital of Ireland, there's a famous statue of Molly Malone. Molly Malone is a character from a traditional song. The song tells Molly's story. Molly is a girl who sells fresh seafood from a wheelbarrow in Dublin.


Later in the song, Molly dies of a fever. People miss her, but they think her ghost continues to walk in the streets of Dublin, crying Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!

The song is one of the most famous and popular songs in Ireland. Almost everyone can sing it.

LUIS SEOANE

Luís Seoane was an important Galician artist, writer and journalist. He was born in Buenos Aires in 1910 but came back to Galicia with his family in 1916. He died in A Coruña in 1979.
