Britain celebrates the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl in 2016. Born on 13 September 1016, Roald Dahl captured the imagination of children around the world with his tales including James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Twits and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Roald Dahl was one of the most popular children’s
authors in the world. He was born in Wales in 1916.
He started to write books after a serious flying
accident. He wrote his first children’s book, James and the Giant Peach, in
1961.
He wrote many more children’s books, including Charlie
and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and the Enormous Crocodile.
Children all over the world read his books, and many have
been turned into films and musicals.
